Salmonid Series
Salmonid Series
Low stock: 2 left
This colour collection was created out of a love for a keystone species in the Pacific Northwest; Salmonids.
If you have been following our social media stories you will have seen that we began volunteering at our local hatchery back in September of 2025. Through the months the volunteers at the hatchery were so generous with their knowledge and their friendship. As our knowledge of the Coho and the Goldstream grew so did our passion.
We wanted to share this love for Salmonids with all of you and also support the hatchery beyond our volunteering. The Howard English Hatchery is a community endeavour run by the Goldstream Volunteer Salmonid Enhancement Association. They are a publicly funded & volunteer run group of amazing individuals.
Each colour in the series represents a life stage of our various salmon species; Coho embryos in their eggs, Goldstream river Coho fry that we work with directly, Chinook as adults in the Pacific Ocean, Sockeye during their spawn, and Chum as they decay and feed the forest. In order to honour the lands that we inhabit we have used the SENĆOŦEN language name for each species of Salmonid in its life stage.
$2 from the sale of each full skein in this colour series will be donated directly to the Goldstream Volunteer Salmonid Enhancement Association to support their work in improving salmon numbers and increasing awareness through education.
This yarn is museling free, milled right here in Canada, and reverently hand-dyed in Victoria BC/Lək̓ʷəŋən (Lekwungen) Territory by yours truly. These bases are duty & tariff free to the USA at this time.
*Hand dyed skeins may vary slightly both between and within dye lots, therefore, we recommend alternating skeins when knitting a multi-skein project.
*Due to the nature of hand-dyed yarn and different screens/devices colours may vary from images shown. We do our very best to represent our colours in natural, filtered light and make them as true to in person as possible.
